Over 20 years ago, Leandro Sigman and Marco Bressan began two separate journeys that eventually converged with the foundation of Cambium. Leandro’s family business had acquired Shell Forestry’s Argentinean and Paraguayan operations to create Pomera. Pomera grew to become a forestry leader in the region and, due to its expansion and operations, now owns unique data and IP related to genetics, tree growth, land, forestry, and the conservation of native species.
Around the time Pomera was being created, Marco was finishing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. These studies were largely motivated by a surge in forest fires that devastated Patagonia and the need for intelligent remote sensing systems. Eventually, Marco contributed to the development of one of the first real-time imagery analytics platform in the space sector, built the first center of excellence in Data & Analytics in the financial sector in Europe and led the data transformation in two of the largest European banks.
Cambium now brings together decades of experience in forestry, technology, and finance to focus on the supply side of quality carbon offsets and with the ambition to make a significant impact in the planet’s carbon removal goals.
